In front of an ever growing demand of aggregates materials (over 400 M Tons/year in France) and the decrease of alluvial sand deposits, that are forcing the market players to move towards more complex treatment plants, there is some place for companies that are able to deliver midsize plant in a reasonable span of time, besides the big global players of the excavation equipment sector. As a consequence of the above statement, the company MS explains hereby its strategies for development. MS is a leader in France for mud treatments with its HQ in Aubiere (dept. 63), and it has been standing for over 30 years also in the sector of sands valorization, water clarification, sands and gravel caves, the mining industry. In order to answer to the expectations of inerts industry professionals, MS introduces for a 2008 a strategy focused on a geographical, operations and product development.

The activities of industrial engineering and production are still managed from the site of Aubière. "In front of competitors that are mainly integrators we wish to carry on our competitiveness in costs and technologies: from preparation of material, through several production processes up to the plant", explain Alexandre Guillaume and Cécile Boursin, who inherited their father's enterprise 3 years ago and now act as Managing Directors of MS. Infact the company from Auvergne is experiencing a strong growth of the technological solutions that can bring into the market of quarries along with the implementation of new technical skills. The exclusive distribution for the French territory of Getech centrifuges does fulfill such an aim.

The experience of MS in the sector of aggregates combined with the solid skills in the treatment of muds coming from underground yards, besides the difficulties met by its customers in renewing the machines stock, pushed the auvergnate company to take on completely the needs of its industrial customers. Despite water and mud treatments and sands preparation are still the core of its business, MS realized how to integrate the process of washing, separating and maintaining sands in quarries. The company showed already all its know-how as an assembler since the construction of Cairo underground, of the highway tunnel near Shanghai (under the Yang-Tze-Kyang river) or of the tunnel that connect the Island of Chongming to the Asian continent. Such new offer has already been rewarded by three orders already in progress, that consolidates the strategy of the company: a treatment pontoon behind a dredge plant in Jassans (01) for the Vicat group; a complete system for treatment behind a dredge in Bordeaux (33) for Sifraco, branch of Sibelco group; and a system for basalt washing in Saint-Julien-de-Coppel (63). Thanks to this outburst, MS is planning to move forward in 2009 with the construction of new company buildings in order to collect all the services in a single site and to double its surface of production premises.



Equipment for sludge treatment

MS has developed 15 years ago, its range of filter-presse to process mud, in order to adapt to the requirements of the excavators sector and to the customers of the public works (BTP). The dry product obtained thanks to this technique are more solid. They demand little surface for storage and little consumption of energy. The Italian Gennaretti, on the other hand, produces centrifuges perfectly adapted to the mineral mud and MS is the exclusive representative for France. These devices offer a high performance, also on those muds resulting to be difficult to separate. The inerts are doughy, the consumption of energy is slightly more elevated, but the transformation is much faster and, sometimes easiest according to the mud to be treated.
